Training & Professional Accomplishments

After graduating from medical school, Dr. Olson began general surgery training at the University of Texas San Antonio, followed by a residency in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern. He completed a fellowship in facial plastic surgery at the prestigious Hedgewood Surgical Center in New Orleans, LA under the preceptorship of Dr. Calvin Johnson.

Dr. Olson returned to Tucson, Arizona, in 1995 as section chief of otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery at the University of Arizona Medical Center (UMC). While he was there, UMC was nationally recognized for excellence in the area of head and neck surgery. Dr. Olson was the first fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon in Southern Arizona.

Dr. Olson established his private practice in 2001. In December 2007, he founded Foothills Dermatology & Facial Plastic Surgery with board-certified dermatologist Dr. Katherine A. Orlick, who left the practice in 2024.

Currently, Dr. Olson practices a wide range of reconstructive and cosmetic facial plastic surgery procedures, including facelift and forehead reduction (hairline advancement) surgery. Dr. Olson is known for his expertise in performing rhinoplasty, including the correction of both cosmetic and functional nasal problems. He has been an invited speaker on the topic of rhinoplasty both locally and internationally.

Husband & Father

Dr. Olson is married to Mercy Olson, RN who plays an active role in the practice. They have two children and enjoy the many outdoor activities that Southern Arizona has to offer.
