Dermal Filler Brands
Foothills Facial Plastic Surgery offers Restylane and JUVÉDERM, two established families of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers. Each collection includes products with different textures and levels of flexibility or support, allowing Dr. Olson to match the filler to the treatment area and desired effect.
Restylane
The Restylane collection ranges from flexible fillers that move naturally in expressive areas to firmer products that provide greater structure and definition. Depending on the product selected, Restylane can smooth facial folds and lines, enhance the lips, improve under-eye hollows, restore volume to the cheeks, temples, and backs of the hands, and define the chin.
The variety of Restylane formulations allows Dr. Olson to select a filler with characteristics suited to the treatment area and the degree of volume, contouring, or wrinkle correction desired.
JUVÉDERM
The JUVÉDERM family also includes a range of HA fillers, from softer gels for delicate areas to firmer products that provide structure and definition. Depending on the product selected, JUVÉDERM can reduce the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth, add shape or fullness to the lips, replenish lost volume beneath the eyes and in the temples, contour the cheeks, and enhance the chin and jawline.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is a firmer gel designed to add structure and volume. It can be used to restore age-related volume loss in the cheeks, enhance the shape and projection of the chin, and improve temple hollowing. VOLUMA offers a nonsurgical approach to facial contouring for appropriate patients; cheek implants are an alternative for patients seeking longer-lasting cheek augmentation.
The right filler isn’t necessarily the same for every patient or treatment area. Dr. Olson considers your facial anatomy, concerns, and desired results when recommending the Restylane or JUVÉDERM product best suited to your personalized treatment plan.
Nonsurgical ‘Liquid’ Facelift
Dr. Olson often recommends combining dermal fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic in what is known as a nonsurgical facelift or “liquid facelift.” This treatment delivers both the volume-boosting effects of fillers with the wrinkle-smoothing benefits of BOTOX to address many of the most common aging concerns in a single session. While this may not replace a surgical facelift for all candidates, it works well for those with early signs of aging who aren’t quite ready for surgery. It’s less invasive, poses a lower risk, and requires less downtime than a surgical facelift, although the results are temporary.
What Are Lip Fillers?
Lip fillers are a popular nonsurgical option for people who want fuller, more defined lips without surgery. They can add volume, enhance the lip borders and Cupid’s bow, improve symmetry, and create more balanced lip contours.
At Foothills Facial Plastic Surgery, we use fillers from the Restylane and JUVÉDERM families for lip augmentation. These products are injectable gels made with hyaluronic acid, a moisture-binding substance found naturally in the body. When carefully injected into the lip area, these gels can add volume, refine lip contours, and create subtle, customized enhancement.
Lip filler results are temporary and vary based on the product used, the amount injected, and individual factors such as metabolism. Depending on these factors, results may last approximately 6 months to a year.
Do I Need Lip Fillers or a Lip Lift?
Lip fillers and a lip lift enhance the lips in different ways. Filler injections add volume and definition but do not shorten the distance between the upper lip and nose. A lip lift surgically shortens this distance, which can increase the amount of visible pink lip and enhance the shape of the upper lip.
If fuller lips are your primary goal, lip augmentation with dermal fillers may be an appropriate option. Some patients benefit from combining lip filler with a lip lift to address both volume and the position and shape of the upper lip. Are filler injections painful?
Newer injectable fillers contain lidocaine to greatly decrease the discomfort of the treatment; additionally, we apply a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. The procedure is completed in roughly 15 minutes so any discomfort you may experience is minimal, particularly when compared to the benefits. After your treatment bruising and swelling is generally minor. You can enjoy beautiful results immediately.
How long do filler results last?
Depending on the treatment area and the filler used, results can last from approximately 6 months up to 2 years. Your provider will discuss this with you as part of your treatment plan.
Are fillers safe?
When used under the supervision of a board-certified dermatologist, injectable dermal fillers are very safe. The fillers we use are made from hyaluronic acid (HA)—a synthetic version of a substance that occurs naturally in the body. It is biocompatible and not associated with allergic reactions. These fillers are also reversible, so they can be immediately dissolved if the need arises.
